Collection of Myanmar Traditional Manuscripts
: The preservation of old Myanmar manuscripts project by mean of digitizing
is the first one to be developed in Myanmar. This whole project was developed
by the Myanmar Book Center Co.Ltd. Old paper manuscripts or Parabaiks were
used as notebooks recording monetary transactions such as loans and mortgages,
trading and sale of goods; social events like birthdates, marriages, Buddhist
ceremonies, legal cases and also formulae for traditional medicine, horoscropes
and predictions. They portray the socio-economic history of Myanmar from
mid 20th century. The preservation of old Myanmar manuscripts project by
mean of digitizing is the first one to developed in Myanmar. |

Over 60 titles of Electronic Books
by famous publishers such as Bagan Book can be downloaded. |

Over 10,000 pages of digitised newspapers
from 1930s to 1950s can be searched and downloaded. Rare and famous newspapers
such as “Mandalay Daily Supplement To The Sun” and “Hanthawaddy
Weekly Review” are digitized and can be searched chronologically. |

Networking among MBC members and local Myanmar scholars on
various common interest. |

MBC advisors will select important
and valuable articles, journals and books and will upload them to this membership

Historical Research Centre and Myanmar Historical Commission. |

Traditional Myanmar manuscripts such as Palm leaf and Parabike
will be digitized. Searching by subjects, date or keywords can be done. |
